Kenyans are activists yes but let's do it with limit and in style
When GMO case is before Kenyans that is the matter of discussion. When the Maize is gaining entry into the country, that turns to be the topic of discussion.
When Kenyans are fighting they fight with zeal and power. They, Kenyans spend almost all their strength in fighting the demons at the door but forgetting about the open windows and ventilators of the house.
This a good strong message indeed, at least it shows a nation with vigor.
Now the GMO foods and maize are the trendies. Maize is being imported from Mozambique, not even in hundreds but in millions of bags.
Genetically Modified Organisms are being given a greenlight by the government.
As all these are taking place, we as Kenyans should not forget that we are not only consuming maize, yet GMO is still a topic of discussion.
We have rice, eggs and many other foodstuffs that we depend on besides the GMO.
Right now other foodstuffs are no where in the list of trendies, but who knows? Perhaps after the discussions of GMOs and entry of maize into the country through the approval by KEBS for consumption, counterfeits should have gained entry into the country.
' This is Kenya' , allow me to use this phrase. Because we are in Kenya everything is bound to happen and can take place anytime, maybe this is the golden opportunity for the cartels to smuggle their goods into the country, for they have spotted a weak point.
We will or may not be surprised when the same Kenya Bureau of Standard will shortlist some of goods that are not authorized in the Kenyan markets and shops. This is the time eyes will be opening and hands will be raised to heighten the red flag but time would have been out of sight for the activists and the common ' mwananchi '.
Fighting something wrong is not bad but it is good with a limit.
Remember when the alleged Eurobond almost send the then Jubilee Government to shame, later National Youth Service gave birth to a new scandal. People focused much on Eurobond and forgot that there are also other ways of corruption.
We should also not forget the time when there was an alarm about Ugandan sugar suspected to have excess mercury and copper the alarm was just raised by Kenya Bureau of Standard after a certain hot trendy topic, again there maybe adulteration of the petroleum products, which also have a lot of impact to human life.
Fighting is good but with a limit.
