PROGRESS OR REGRESS. KENYA STILL ON ITS KNEES

Progress or Regress

Today marks one year since the 2022 General Elections were held.
Winners emerged and the losers were to be there because in a race there must be a winner and a loser and not everybody must be lead.
Those who win formed the Government while those who failed never conceded defeat and automatically tagged themselves as opposition leaders.
Both these politicians had manifestos. The manifestos that were scripted in books that if purposefully won, they would like to do one or two, this and this to the plebs.

The runner's up had similar to the winner.
The Kenya Kwanza brigades outsmarted Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance.
They therefore formed the Government having won by more 8 million votes.
Today, what can a Kenyan say has been done by the Government.
Albeit previous elections were held peacefully and the atmosphere was that admiration despite negative expectations from other people.
People democratically voted and bury their hatchet. Indeed the spirit of unity and one Kenya was seen
The peace that was seen in the elections is no more. A total of about 30 lives have been lost due to maandamano steered by the Chief Opposition leader Honourable Raila Odinga under Azimio La Umoja One Kenya. Scores have been injured beyond recovery yet elections were peaceful.

People are in the streets over high cost of living.
During the campaigns, the presidential aspirants had solutions to high cost of living that was in the previous Government.
Yes citizens are demonstrating but should we say that solving high cost of living was hot air or has the Government been defeated to give Kenya what they promised.
The Kenya we are is not the Kenya we prospected.
When Kenyans voted, they were hoping for a better future than past, hoping for a peaceful and bloodless Kenya, hoping for unity across the divide but the wishful thinking they had is not what they see, is not what they are going through.
Politics of blame game is what they manifest, chest thumping is their norm but delivery is minimal.
The wanjiku is not getting what she deserve.
On Wednesday 9th August 2023, talk between the Government and the opposition is set to begin, the crux of the discussion is put on stop the demos and unify the country, the main reason for the demonstrations was high cost of living but they is not on the table for discussion as Government claiming that they will solve it on their own, this now bring a suspense as to whether there will be fruit at the end or the tree will just be barren.
Has the Government forget it's people?
Which language can now be understood by the government.
It is right time to remind the Government that they bear the name "Kenya Kwanza" meaning Kenya first not to lead vacuum Kenya but lead people who make Kenya to exist. If Kenya would be without people then it could have been named "dark country" or "devil's throne". Let the phrase Kenya Kwanza be empirical not theory.
Kenya should not be a country where patriots are withdrawing their patriotism and remaining to be 'bora mwananchi '
Kenya is one. Kenya needs peace.
Kenya is for you and me.

SINGAPORE AND KENYA: DAY AND NIGHT

Kenya got its independence 1963 from the British colony, while Singapore got it two years in the month of August 9, 1965 from Malaysia after they had intense political differences which resulted to racial riots. Standing on the mirror line reflecting on the two countries between Kenya and Singapore, Kenya is extremely behind Singapore in terms of development.  Singapore hastily rose from third world country to first world country while Kenya still maintained the third world class.  Recently, Kenya's President Dr. William Ruto, is full of comparison statements: between Kenya and Singapore. Surprisingly, the phrase of boosting Kenya's world class has taken a beautiful twist where every politician is dreaming of Kenya to be futuristically the same level as Singapore. Pausing a bit, what's a dream? pondering on this; a dream literally means imaginary events while sleeping.  Our politicians are forgetting the dogmatic saying that goes 'action speaks louder than...

THE CHANGE EXPECTED IN REVERSE: GEN Z'S FADING STRENGTH

Photo Courtesy   Waking up to find the sun rising from the West and not East at dawn is enough to signal a whirl of change in the cosmological history. As a product of imagination it can be, who knew Gen Z would emerge as with a wave of change in a sundry of generations unexpectedly.  With this wave, the political sphere in every country worldwide is experiencing an overhaul.  Recently, protests have marred different countries with calls for change.  Bangladesh, Nepal, Morocco, Madagascar, Kenya are some of the countries that have at least tasted the pinch of the GenZ protests, while some of the protests have resulted in a change in the political sphere of the affected countries others have left less impact with mission and vision unreached due to fanciful impulse.  Generation Z, globally have not only expressed their anger through anger through protests and demonstrations, but also in politics where some of the African countries like Seychelles and...

NOT-NOW: HAVE SOME HUMANITY

photo courtesy (unknown) A person cannot retract a message that has reached a mass audience invariant of where it was said. One of the characteristics of communication is that you cannot uncommunicate.  A silent person remains wise until he utters a word. His Excellency Mutahi Kahiga might exemplify this phrase considering his tracenda during his speech at a funeral in Kiambu county, where he was addressing them in the local dialect.  Mr. Kahiga, seems to be deficient in emotions especially concerning the latest tragedy that befell the country when he cast aspersions on Raila Odinga's demise.  Raila Odinga, without doubt was akin to mumbo-jumbo within the luo community yet to his capacity during his lifetime did he not only benefit the Luo but became a national figure and perhaps a trademark in Kenya's politics.  In the history of human life, man is mortal and from soil we come, to soil shall we return. Regardless of the circumstances, man is...
