THE PEACELESS NIGERIA AS ELECTIONS NEAR

THE STATE OF NIGERIA. On 25th February, this year the Nigerians will be heading to elections in order to vote in leaders at various levels, who will later represent them at those levels. In Nigeria the security is a major concern and the country have some of its parts experiencing insecurity especially from the terror group known as Boko Haram an alleged Islamic affiliated group. As the Nigerians are approaching the election day, the tranquility is still not a guarantee to some parts of the country. The lives of the innocent civilians are always at risk and some people usually live in fear because there is no predictable time for the attackers to attack, the invaders to do their invasion and it is only through the mercy of the deity they abandon themselves. There are 176,846 polling units who have registered voters in Nigeria this is according to Independent National Electoral Commission, the head of the commission Professor Mahmood Yakubu further disputed the claims of election postpo...

Spare comrade on Fee Increment

On 26th of June 1976 in South Africa, about 700 students were killed. The incident known as The *Soweto Massacre*, was due to the uprising by the students who were lamenting on the hostile nature of the then Government, apartheid regime. The mass death later gave rise to unity and strength from other students as well as other native South Africans. In Kenya currently, the committee that was formed to review the education sector recommended an increase in the varsity fee. The recommendation is that the fee be increased from the initial 16,000 to 52,000, this alongside other recommendations. This is not an insurrection speech but a mirror of agony that is yet to befall students at the tertiary levels of their study either tomorrow or future. Just as the South African students who were on their way to get freedom and eventually gave light to others, the same force is now needed in the country. The power of the students is worth recognition and not be disregarded. The raising of the varsit...

The police officers and Kenya Defence Forces have been sent there to comb the bandits, this after the region witnessed heinous acts by the bandits. The deployment of the security to clear out the bandits is not enough approval to safety in the region, instead it is just a type of threat the government is employing to the outrageous bandits who have existed since the time of post colonialism and they have always remained to be unmoved group, even the Government’s have the headache when it comes to banditry in the North Rift. The situation that is going to take place in these six counties; Turkana, West Pokot, Laikipia, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet and Samburu have its two sides.        i.) The civilians are going to face it rough at the hands of the military men and it is no longer be the battle military versus bandit...

THE FATE OF MEDIA IN KENYA

Radio is one form of media that help in disseminating news, informing the public, entertaining the public, teaching the public among other benefits to the society. In Kenya there are major mainstream media in the country; Royal Media Services, Standard Group and Nation Media Group as well Radio Africa. This does not mean that there are no other media houses, and to break the doubtfulness, there are other numerous radio stations either community, business owned. The trust society has for the radio is still eminent and cannot be avoided at all cost, in most of the Kenyan societies radio champions to be the best form of media as others follow. The trust publics have for the radio is fading away due to some factors, it may be financial constraints, stiff competition and some sorts of professionalism interference but the political interference is the giant in the room. Last week, police raided former Cabinet Secretary for Interior Security and Coordination, Dr. Fred Okeng’o Matiang’i. The r...
