THE DEPLOYMENT OF SECURITY PERSONS IN NORTH RIFT

As tyres rest on tarmacs of North Rift, boots trampling on the soil and the bushes of the region, the region is no safer especially for the civilians there. The police officers and Kenya Defence Forces have been sent there to comb the bandits, this after the region witnessed heinous acts by the bandits.
The deployment of the security to clear out the bandits is not enough approval to safety in the region, instead it is just a type of threat the government is employing to the outrageous bandits who have existed since the time of post colonialism and they have always remained to be unmoved group, even the Government’s have the headache when it comes to banditry in the North Rift.
The situation that is going to take place in these six counties; Turkana, West Pokot, Laikipia, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet and Samburu have its two sides.
i.) The civilians are going to face it rough at the hands of the military men and it is no longer be the battle military versus bandits but rather military versus the civilians. It is also clear that the day before His Excellency gave an amnesty for those having illegal firearms to surrender, but there is no clarity if the people took heed of the amnesty by the president or let us presumably say that there are no illegal firearms as alleged by the Head Of State. We all know how the search of illegal firearms in the regions usually ends with the residents of such regions, unpleasant in deed. The tears of the natives of these six counties will be nothing in the eyes of the militia personnel, because of orders.
Even as the operations are launched, it is for the sake of the civilians that the KDFs are being sent there, it is fair they prioritize in securing lives of these residents without injuring or causing harm to them. Here humanity to prevail amidst innocent residents.
ii.) The military men themselves might face it unpalatable, we cannot fail to reminisce the Kapedo massacre, where offices of four scores were killed. When these security people have been deployed in mass with no better strategy then their work is going to be in vain. They are going to deal with the people of the region and not strangers to the region, these bandits have there ‘barracks’ where they plan invasions and attacks. The bandits are knowledgeable in guerrilla tactics than the police and KDFs who are going just because orders are great.
The military officials are also human being and human have weakness and the government should have been a bit considerate than sending them to the ‘wild’ areas dominated by the bandits.
It is a wish that it be a win to the KDFs and police officers because a win to them is a win to government and peace to the Kenyans in the regions. In as much orders are being adhered to. Proper strategies should be at best. It is not bandits alone but also the source of the weapons the bandits are using. The Government should also begin a hunt down to the sponsors of these weapons as well the financiers, and because I believe and trust the Government that is a task that cannot fail them if they are out for it. Please leave no stone unturned.

SINGAPORE AND KENYA: DAY AND NIGHT

Kenya got its independence 1963 from the British colony, while Singapore got it two years in the month of August 9, 1965 from Malaysia after they had intense political differences which resulted to racial riots. Standing on the mirror line reflecting on the two countries between Kenya and Singapore, Kenya is extremely behind Singapore in terms of development.  Singapore hastily rose from third world country to first world country while Kenya still maintained the third world class.  Recently, Kenya's President Dr. William Ruto, is full of comparison statements: between Kenya and Singapore. Surprisingly, the phrase of boosting Kenya's world class has taken a beautiful twist where every politician is dreaming of Kenya to be futuristically the same level as Singapore. Pausing a bit, what's a dream? pondering on this; a dream literally means imaginary events while sleeping.  Our politicians are forgetting the dogmatic saying that goes 'action speaks louder than...

THE CHANGE EXPECTED IN REVERSE: GEN Z'S FADING STRENGTH

Photo Courtesy   Waking up to find the sun rising from the West and not East at dawn is enough to signal a whirl of change in the cosmological history. As a product of imagination it can be, who knew Gen Z would emerge as with a wave of change in a sundry of generations unexpectedly.  With this wave, the political sphere in every country worldwide is experiencing an overhaul.  Recently, protests have marred different countries with calls for change.  Bangladesh, Nepal, Morocco, Madagascar, Kenya are some of the countries that have at least tasted the pinch of the GenZ protests, while some of the protests have resulted in a change in the political sphere of the affected countries others have left less impact with mission and vision unreached due to fanciful impulse.  Generation Z, globally have not only expressed their anger through anger through protests and demonstrations, but also in politics where some of the African countries like Seychelles and...

NOT-NOW: HAVE SOME HUMANITY

photo courtesy (unknown) A person cannot retract a message that has reached a mass audience invariant of where it was said. One of the characteristics of communication is that you cannot uncommunicate.  A silent person remains wise until he utters a word. His Excellency Mutahi Kahiga might exemplify this phrase considering his tracenda during his speech at a funeral in Kiambu county, where he was addressing them in the local dialect.  Mr. Kahiga, seems to be deficient in emotions especially concerning the latest tragedy that befell the country when he cast aspersions on Raila Odinga's demise.  Raila Odinga, without doubt was akin to mumbo-jumbo within the luo community yet to his capacity during his lifetime did he not only benefit the Luo but became a national figure and perhaps a trademark in Kenya's politics.  In the history of human life, man is mortal and from soil we come, to soil shall we return. Regardless of the circumstances, man is...
