TIME FOR KENYA TO LEARN DURING TOURNAMENT

THE HIDDEN BLESSING IN AFCON

Kenya's Harambee Stars is ranked below the top hundred. They are being followed by Tanzania from Africa, their counterpart for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations 2027.

Kenya jointly with the Eastern African Countries; Tanzania and Uganda showed their interest and submitted their bid to host the tournament come the year 2027.

Kenya was first set to host tournaments in the years 1996 and 2018 after winning the bid but later got disqualified due to unpreparedness of the stadia or the venues for hosting such events.

This time round their success has gone through with the virtue of being jointly submitting their bid.

The coming of the AFCON's tournament is worth a blessing at hand to count on.

Even though the tournament comes as a blessing in disguise, this is the best moment to improve the Kenya's football circle.

In spite of Kenya being scheduled to host the tournament, they are still serving a penalty by FIFA after the previous government directly involved itself with the football matters, a situation that is contrary to FIFA rules. Moreover, some of Kenya's stadia were deemed unfit for hosting international football games and the list included Nyayo and Kasarani stadia, the declaration was made by CAF not more than two years ago. But this is not a matter of discussion, since a stadium like Kasarani has been re-innovated and upgraded.

Kenya's Harambee Stars has not had a good football history in comparison to athletics and Kenya usually tends to shine with gold and bronze medals.

In Eastern Africa, Uganda takes the lead as Kenya follows then Tanzania, which is when it comes to football ranking.

Tanzania, the neighbours seems to be on another level when it comes to the race in footballing, they are now seemingly changing the narrative and turning the tables of history. As neighbours, much as they are number 122 against Kenya's 109, says a lot about Tanzania.

One of the factors that may be alleged to have contributed to this is because of the Government's goodwill towards the sports department.

Kenya should not be proudly tugging her tail in the buttocks. The Government should not be having laxity when it comes to Sports and Youths. Because, when youths are mentioned they are in sport and sports they are the majority of them who are in sports.

Could the Government had been serious with youth affairs then the Talanta Hela Initiative would not have had amputated limbs, just months after it was launched.

Coming of the Africa Cup Of Nations tournament should be a blessing. This is the best time to benchmark, the best time to make youths learn from our, peer countries like Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia which are above us in football.

Best time for the Government through the Ministry of Youths and Sports to benchmark, involve youths and make necessary improvements for the betterment of our nation's natural talents. Talents that are rotting in the villages.

After the tournament let the ban be done away with and Kenya start a new phase and have a new face in sports. Face that dream of Kenya reaching the World Cup tournaments coming true than the Cup coming for a tour in our country. The phase that a multitude of youths divert from praising foreign premier leagues at the expense of their own league, that they will sing Manchester City FC and Tusker FC alike.

Kenya has talent, but to accommodate them is the problem, football academies are reluctant to absorb them. The sponsors do not reach them because of a lack of medium. After the tournament, let talent be valued rather than nepotism, tribalism, corruption, and match-fixing.

Kenya is capable, the Government only needs to look for those who have the vigor to serve, charismatic potential leader, who is to take a decade ahead though we have been decades back.

SINGAPORE AND KENYA: DAY AND NIGHT

Kenya got its independence 1963 from the British colony, while Singapore got it two years in the month of August 9, 1965 from Malaysia after they had intense political differences which resulted to racial riots. Standing on the mirror line reflecting on the two countries between Kenya and Singapore, Kenya is extremely behind Singapore in terms of development.  Singapore hastily rose from third world country to first world country while Kenya still maintained the third world class.  Recently, Kenya's President Dr. William Ruto, is full of comparison statements: between Kenya and Singapore. Surprisingly, the phrase of boosting Kenya's world class has taken a beautiful twist where every politician is dreaming of Kenya to be futuristically the same level as Singapore. Pausing a bit, what's a dream? pondering on this; a dream literally means imaginary events while sleeping.  Our politicians are forgetting the dogmatic saying that goes 'action speaks louder than...

THE CHANGE EXPECTED IN REVERSE: GEN Z'S FADING STRENGTH

Photo Courtesy   Waking up to find the sun rising from the West and not East at dawn is enough to signal a whirl of change in the cosmological history. As a product of imagination it can be, who knew Gen Z would emerge as with a wave of change in a sundry of generations unexpectedly.  With this wave, the political sphere in every country worldwide is experiencing an overhaul.  Recently, protests have marred different countries with calls for change.  Bangladesh, Nepal, Morocco, Madagascar, Kenya are some of the countries that have at least tasted the pinch of the GenZ protests, while some of the protests have resulted in a change in the political sphere of the affected countries others have left less impact with mission and vision unreached due to fanciful impulse.  Generation Z, globally have not only expressed their anger through anger through protests and demonstrations, but also in politics where some of the African countries like Seychelles and...

NOT-NOW: HAVE SOME HUMANITY

photo courtesy (unknown) A person cannot retract a message that has reached a mass audience invariant of where it was said. One of the characteristics of communication is that you cannot uncommunicate.  A silent person remains wise until he utters a word. His Excellency Mutahi Kahiga might exemplify this phrase considering his tracenda during his speech at a funeral in Kiambu county, where he was addressing them in the local dialect.  Mr. Kahiga, seems to be deficient in emotions especially concerning the latest tragedy that befell the country when he cast aspersions on Raila Odinga's demise.  Raila Odinga, without doubt was akin to mumbo-jumbo within the luo community yet to his capacity during his lifetime did he not only benefit the Luo but became a national figure and perhaps a trademark in Kenya's politics.  In the history of human life, man is mortal and from soil we come, to soil shall we return. Regardless of the circumstances, man is...
